How to choose the best water purifier?

To select water purifier first check your tds

If tds<100 (boiling is enough)

Tds<200(boiling is enough or uv filter can be added without storage model is preferred)

Tds<300 (uv +uf water purifier without storage model preferred)

Tds<400(ro +uv+tds(must be added because we can increase our tds level for 60to 100 by having tds controller)

Tds<1000(ro+uv+mc) like wise you can go

Types of water filters and their effects.

  • Sediment Filters :
    • How they work: Physically block or trap particles like sand, rust, and dirt using mesh, fiber, or porous ceramic (small pores) as water passes through.
    • Removes: Sediment, rust, large particles, protozoa.
  • Activated Carbon Filters:
    • How they work: Water flows over porous, treated carbon that attracts and absorbs chlorine, VOCs, and organic compounds through a chemical process.
    • Removes: Chlorine, bad tastes/odors, chemicals, pesticides, improving water clarity and smell.
  • Reverse Osmosis (RO) Filters:
    • How they work: Pressure forces water through a very fine, semipermeable membrane, leaving dissolved solids and impurities behind.
    • Removes: A broad range of contaminants, including heavy metals, fluoride, dissolved salts, bacteria, and viruses.
  • Ultraviolet (UV) Filters:
    • How they work: Expose water to UV light, which disrupts the DNA of microorganisms, preventing them from reproducing.
    • Removes: Bacteria, viruses, and other microbes; it’s disinfection, not filtration, so it doesn’t remove particles or chemicals.
  • Ion Exchange Filters:
    • How they work: Uses resin beads to swap undesirable ions (like calcium/magnesium causing hardness) for more benign ions (like sodium).
    • Removes: Hardness minerals, some heavy metals, and can condition water for specific uses.
  • Ultrafiltration (UF):
    • How they work: Similar to RO but with larger pores, using a hollow fiber membrane to filter out bacteria and viruses without needing electricity.
    • Removes: Suspended solids, bacteria, and some viruses.

RO water offers cleaner, safer drinking water by removing up to 99% of contaminants like lead, bacteria, viruses, and chemicals. It improves taste and odour, reduces scaling in pipes, and is cost-effective long-term. RO water is effective at removing impurities but also strips away essential minerals like calcium and magnesium, which can impact bone health and metabolism.  But no worry Most advanced RO systems now include TDS controllers or mineralizers that add essential minerals back into the purified water.
